Obedience

Get your puppy off to a great start with our Puppy Smart Start class. Puppy socialization is absolutely critical to the development of a happy and well-balanced dog. Our puppy class will help build confidence as well as help your puppy learn basic manners.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is offered as a part of this class.

Our basic obedience class is offered to dogs of all ages. Skills taught include; walking on a loose leash, sit, down, stay, coming when called and walking politely past other people and dogs.

The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test will be offered at the end of each session for those who are interested.

This class is NOT appropriate for dogs that are reactive or aggressive.

Interested in continuing your obedience training? This class offers additional training for those dogs who are interested in going on to compete or those that just want to continue building the relationship with their dogs.

Focus will be on continued improvement in heeling both on leash and off. Reliable recalls. Fronts, finishes and other skills needed to begin competition.

Are you interested in advance competitive obedience and need to work on the advanced skills needed for those classes? Come train with us and AKC Obedience Judge Karen Wrey to get ready to rock those skills in the ring.

Private lessons are available at all levels for those that need to work on that one specific thing.

Scent Works

Do you have a dog that is always using it’s nose to find “things”? Scent Works uses the dog’s natural ability to sniff things out and turns into a fun game of hide and seek. Dogs are first taught to find yummy treats in a collection of boxes or inside a given area. Then, once they get the “game” the treats are then paired with the essential oils (birch, clove, anise, etc) that are used in competition events.

Train your own “search dog” for fun or go on to compete and get ribbons and titles for doing what comes so naturally to them.

There are no prerequisites for this class.

Once your dog has learned how to play the find it game, the scents and skills needed to start competing in this exciting sport are taught. Different scents are used at each level and the scents can be detected in containers, an indoor room, outside, or even buried in sand.

Conformation Handling

If you are interested in showing your dog in the breed ring but aren’t quite sure how to get them to show at their very best, this class is for you. Professional dog handler, Becky Leuth, has had years of experience and taken numerous dogs of all breeds to their championships, group wins and Best in Show!

This is a six week course (one hour each week) that includes stacking, moving, showing the bite, and other invaluable tips on how to get your dog ready to show their very best.

This class is for those dogs that have the basics down but need practice around other dogs and “judges” to get them used to distracting environment of the show ring.

This class is offered on a drop-in basis only and is just $20 a class.
